Improv puppet humor for your soul (and your kid's)

foa2.jpgAlcatraz, the most desirable cat in the world, is putting on an afternoon (for kids) and an evening (for adults) of comedy with his fleece-faced puppet friends - and you're invited! Featuring innovative staging that lets the audience watch the show on stage or on screen, this production was the first fully improvised puppet show ever seen in Philadelphia and will be the first in Brooklyn (as far as we can tell).

(Please note: while this show features puppets, only the 3PM & 5PM shows are for children.  The 9PM show is for adults.)

Lyceum Holiday Marketplace is at the Brooklyn Lyceum the following weekend(Dec 17/18).  Gift Certificate can be purchased at the door.

 

When he's not kayaking through the Suez Canal or smoking rare cigars on the balcony of the Taj Mahal with the ghost of Marco Polo, Alcatraz the Cat is feeding orphans in Uganda and curing the world of Mad Cow Disease.

Produced by Kelly Vrooman who is a host of The Sunny Side Up Show on Sprout, the first 24-hour preschool destination available on TV, on demand and online for kids ages 2-5 and their parents and caregivers. Along with her co-host, Chica the Chicken, Kelly interacts live with preschoolers and their families across the country, as she shares daily birthday greetings, viewer-submitted crafts, fun facts and weekly themes ranging from colors, numbers and letters to manners, gardening and pets.

 

 

Over the last several years, Kelly has enjoyed a successful theatre and commercial career with leading roles in plays such as Romeo and Juliet and Fiddler on the Roof, and appearances in commercials for top brands like Comcast and Penske. Kelly is also actively involved in the improvisational community and is currently a member of the award-winning improve comedy troupe, Comedy Sportz.

 

As host of The Sunny Side Up Show, Kelly links Sprout's gold-standard, curriculum-based programs with live segments that create a warm, welcoming and fun environment where preschoolers and their parents can gather each morning to prepare for the day ahead and share birthdays, greetings, ideas, crafts and more. Airing everyday from 9 a.m. - noon ET, The Sunny Side Up Show is television's only live show for preschoolers.

Kelly lives in Philadelphia and her hobbies include painting, dance, storytelling and music.
